For the Canoe Tour (Canals):
Comfortable, quick-drying clothing: The climate is humid and it may rain.
Sunscreen, hat, and insect repellent: Essential.
Camera and binoculars: For observing monkeys, sloths, and birds.
Water boots or mud shoes: If it's the rainy season.
Cash: For entrance fees (National Park) or any extra expenses.
For the Nighttime Turtle Nesting Tour (Very Important!):
Dark-colored clothing (black, very dark blue/green): Flashes or bright light scare the turtles; this is rule number one!
Long pants and long sleeves: For protection and to wear dark clothing.
Closed-toe shoes or comfortable sandals: The sand can be uncomfortable.
Mosquito repellent and a raincoat: The humid climate is unforgiving.
NO CAMERAS OR PHONES WITH FLASH! It is strictly prohibited to protect the turtles. You may only use your memory.
Cash: May be needed for transfers or tips.
Additional Tips:
Season: Nesting (July-October) and hatching (September-October) are key times to see hatchlings.
Park Entrance: Valid for one day for various activities, make the most of it!
Very important: Entrance to Tortuguero National Park is not included in the package price.
